About the Application Process

Q: How do I apply?

Applications will only be accepted through the online portal. When you go to the application portal link, you first have to click the green "sign up" button. Once you have filled in the registration form, you'll get a confirmation email that will lead you to your account. Remember the email and password you use in the form. You will have to use this to login next time you wish to access your application form. 

Once you are logged in, click on "Start" button to start a new Application. Fill in your basic information as asked, then click "Save and Exit". You will now be back at the home page where at the bottom you click on "View Applications." Select the UWC Pakistan application and click on "Apply Now" on the right side. You are now in the application portal. Start at the topmost “Start” button and go through each page to enter your details, after each page please click on “Save and Continue”. You are ready to begin your UWC Scholarship Application!

Q: Can I apply if I am only 15 years old?

A: Only if you are going to turn 16 by 1st September 2024. To be eligible, you have to be 16 or 17 years of age as of 1st of September 2024. Click here to read all eligibility criteria.

Q: Can I apply if I am not a Pakistani national?

A: If you are a resident in Pakistan, you can apply through the application portal. If you are a resident in another country, please consult the website of the relevant National Committee in that country via www.uwc.org - where you will also find more information on the Global Selections Programme.

Q: Can I apply as an Afghan refugee residing in Pakistan?

A: It depends on your situation. Please get in touch with us via email (selections@pk.uwc.org), so we can discuss your specific details and advise accordingly.

Q: What will be asked in the application form?

A: You will be asked to give details about:

  • Current school
  • Academic grades
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Essays

You need to fill in all sections of the application form, otherwise it will not be considered. Simply registering an account does not suffice. Please plan your time well to fill in all pieces of the application well before the deadline.

Q: Are students selected on the basis of merit or financial need?

A: Students are shortlisted and selected on the basis of merit and promise alone! The selections team only opens the financial aid application in order to assess possible scholarship amount in the case that a student is being nominated to a UWC. In other words, the scholarships offered are merit scholarships.

Q: Will recommendations be required?

A: Teachers' recommendations are required only if you are shortlisted for the interview. We'll share more details then.

However, please do not confuse this with the recommendation step in the application, which is used for the Financial Aid information. In this step, this you will enter your parent or guardian's email. They will get a link at this email, and they can will use it to fill in the financial aid form and endorse your application. Please read the guidance in the application portal with care.

Q: Where are the colleges located?

Q: Can I attend only one year of UWC?

A: No, this is a two-year program.

Q: What degree will I be awarded once I finish two years at UWC?

A: All UWC schools and colleges teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for students in the final two years of high school education. As one of the most well-regarded and widely known secondary school qualifications in the world, the IBDP prepares students to attend some of the world's leading universities.

Q: Are scholarships available?

A: A limited number of scholarships are given on a need basis to students selected on the basis of their merit and potential through the application process via the national committees. Please see the section on procedure on the financial aid forms, filled by your parent or guardian, and which are a required piece of the written application through the national committee.

Q: Can I choose which college to attend (if selected)?

A: If selected through the National Committee Process via Pakistan, you cannot make college preferences because we have to allocate limited spots to financial need of those who are selected. If you want to choose to apply to a specific college, you can apply through the Global Selections Programme (which is full fee paying).
